4-H Clubs & Safety Demos

Tricounty Rural Electric Cooperative supports 4-H clubs within Tricounty’s service territory.

For more than 40 years, Tricounty has provided area youth attending 4-H Camp Palmer with materials and guidance to make their own 4-H lamp, teaching them about electricity and safety tips along the way. The youth are provided a four-leaf clover base, plug, wire, socket, two washers, two nuts, a spindle, a piece of threaded pipe and a compact fluorescent light bulb. Following instructions and given guidance from Tricounty Rural Electric's CEO, the campers assemble their lamps using wire strippers, wire cutters, pliers, screw drivers and needle nose pliers.

This experience is a great way to instill a basic understanding of how an electric current works. Though you don't have to be a 4-Her to attend, Camp Palmer offers youth outdoor and environmental education and fosters team development. Campers can relate and apply camp leadership and camp living experiences directly into their home, school, church, and community life. Not to mention, it’s a great way to get youth outdoors to appreciate nature.

To learn more or schedule a learning opportunity for your group, call our office. We also offer electric safety demonstrations.
