Tour Cardinal Power Plant on Oct. 9

Members tour the power plantBuckeye Power’s Cardinal Power Plant, located on the Ohio River in Brilliant, Ohio, is one of the cleanest coal-fired power plants in the world. The plant supplies power to all the electric co-ops in the state of Ohio, including Tricounty. For an opportunity to see it in action, join us October 9 as we head to scenic eastern Ohio.

Tricounty members, along with co-op members from Paulding Putnam Electric and Northwestern Electric will be sharing a charter bus for the one-day trip. The tour is FREE, but seats are limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
The trip is only offered to members who have not previously attended, unless space allows.

The air-conditioned bus with restroom facilities will leave the Northtowne Mall parking lot in Defiance at 7:30 a.m. and will return around 8:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided prior to arriving at the plant. You are responsible for your evening meal (at a fast food restaurant). Bottled water will be available on the bus.

Tour guidelines:

  • Participants must be at least 12 years old.
  • There will be a lot of walking, climbing of several sets of stairs, and going through hot and dusty areas during the tour, so members with health concerns or those who require assistance with walking should not take the tour.
  • Members will be required to wear eye, head, and ear protection during the tour. These items will be provided to you.

To reserve your seat, call our office at 419-256-7900 anytime Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. by Wednesday, Sept.25.

Those who are selected to join us on the tour will be notified using the information provided. Please call our office with any questions.
